Have you ever met a couple and just known they were perfect for each other? That’s Laura & Travis. They have a love for one another that runs deep and their happiness is contagious! I couldn’t stop smiling and laughing and had such a fun time getting to know them during their engagement session at Elizabeth Park. The connection between the two of them is real…they’ve known each other since childhood! Laura jokes that Travis found her and never let her go after their first date which was almost 7 years ago. And then, last summer, he got down on one knee at one of their favorite local restaurants and proposed! Filled with a million emotions of happiness, Laura quickly said YES and they’ve been busy planning their wedding ever since!
Elizabeth Park, West Harford CT
Elizabeth Park has been a SUPER popular spot for engagement photos this spring/summer! I was there twice in one week and have another scheduled there in a few weeks. The beautiful flower beds and lush greenery make for the perfect backdrop. I love this park for so many reasons, one of which being there are numerous amazing spots to take photos making every session different. The rose gardens were not flowering yet while we were there, but I can only image what they will look like during the peak of summer. Pure amazingness I’m sure! I feel like every time I visit the park I find a new spot to love.
Laura and Travis dressed the part (I loooooove when my couples get decked out!) and chose soft blues which look great against the green backdrop. When couples ask for outfit advice for their sessions, I always tell them that solid colors (and more specifically light colors) look great on camera. And it’s totally okay if the colors don’t match! It’s actually better if they don’t and you pick outfits that coordinate instead.
The Importance of an Engagement Session
I always stress the importance of doing an engagement session. An engagement session helps give you a good idea of how things will go on your actual wedding day.. posing, smiling, reposing…etc. Plus it’s a fantastic way for you to get to know your photographer (and vice versa!) and become more comfortable in front of the camera. You can really see how Laura and Travis felt very natural. When you are being yourself, relaxed, naturally affectionate, & having fun… it will absolutely show in your photographs!
Laura and Travis are planning their wedding for this October at The Aqua Turf and I can’t wait to capture their special day for them!
