When you’re a wedding photographer and your cousin is about to celebrate his first wedding anniversary at the lake where you’ve vacationed together every single summer since you were kids, naturally you propose an anniversary shoot! And luckily, my cousin Mike and his beautiful bride Suzanne, agreed to pack their wedding attire, and get a little fancy for a gorgeous wedding shoot at my favorite New England vacation spot, Willoughby Lake in Westmore, VT.
Paradise in Vermont
If you haven’t heard of Lake Willoughby, just give it a quick google search… its absolutely breathtaking. It’s something out of a magazine (I’m sure it’s been published many times over). My family has been vacationing on the lake for 61 years (61 YEARS!! obviously this goes back generations) and I’ve always wanted to shoot a wedding there! Every year we pack up the car, join up with my dad’s side of the family and completely unwind for one ahhhmazing week in June. There’s little to no cell service so I actually feel like I’m taking a break from reality when we go. Which is so important!!!
Mike and Suzanne were married last June at the Inn at the Round Barn Farm in Waitsfield, VT. They thought about getting married at Lake Willoughby but it just wouldn’t work with their needs. I asked if they’d be up for an anniversary wedding shoot at the lake and they happily agreed. We had so much fun and I knew just where to go to get some pretty amazing views to take these images. Those beautiful fields of yellow wildflowers… LOVE!
Thanks for making my wedding photography dreams come true Mike & Suzanne! And congrats on your 1st year of marriage! Cheers to many more!
