Senior Pictures with Lots of Variety at Northwest Park | Windsor, CT

When Kaylee told me she wanted fields, flowers, and that golden summer glow for her senior pictures at Northwest Park, I knew it was the perfect location. But the location was only part of it. Because somehow this session went from pretty portraits among the flowers to an American flag, a cowboy hat, and a Red Bull. Honestly? That’s exactly why I loved it!

Senior pictures don’t have to fit into one perfectly coordinated aesthetic. You can want the pretty photos your mom is going to frame and the fun ones that make your friends say, “Yep, that’s you.” A full senior session gives us room for both!

Fields, Flowers & Plenty of Variety at Northwest Park

Northwest Park was such a good fit for what she had envisioned for her senior pictures.

She wanted that natural outdoor feel with fields and flowers, but she also wanted variety throughout her gallery. Being able to move around the park and find different little pockets to photograph gave us plenty of options without making the session feel rushed or spending half our time driving around.

We could lean into the softer, prettier side of her session in one spot and then completely change things up in the next.

That’s one of my favorite things about a senior session with a little breathing room. We don’t have to commit to one look and stick with it for the entire session.

And Then Came the Fun Stuff

Of course, the flowers and fields were beautiful. But then she pulled out the cowboy hat. And the American flag. And a Red Bull.

This is where the session really started to feel like hers. Not every single thing you bring to your senior session has to be sentimental or have some deep meaning behind it. Sometimes it’s just something you love. Something you always have with you. Something that makes you laugh. Those things belong in your senior pictures, too.

Twenty years from now, maybe the Red Bull photo will make her laugh. Or maybe she’ll still be drinking them. Honestly, it could go either way!

The Photos for Mom AND the Photos for You

There’s always room for both. I want to give you those beautiful portraits that feel timeless. The ones your parents will print, frame, and probably display in the house long after you’ve moved out. But I also want the photos that capture a little more of who you were during your senior year.

The cowboy hat. The favorite drink. The things you’re into right now. The big laugh that happened in between the photos we were actually trying to take. Because when we mix all of that together, your gallery has so much more life to it.

A Senior Session That Doesn’t Take Itself Too Seriously

We laughed a LOT during this session. And that’s always a good sign. Senior pictures are a milestone, but they don’t have to feel formal or serious the entire time. Some of my favorite photos happen once we’ve settled in, everyone relaxes, and we’re just having fun with it. We’ll create the beautiful portraits. We’ll chase the good light. We’ll find the flowers.

But there’s also plenty of room for whatever else you want to throw into the mix. Even if that’s a cowboy hat and a can of Red Bull. Because senior pictures don’t have to be just one thing. And neither do you!
