One Hot Momma’s Boudoir Experience

Last month I had the privilege of photographing this hot momma! After thinking about a boudoir session for years, she booked an experience with me. (YESSS!! Thank you for being brave girl!!!) Everyone is always nervous at first and “A” was no different even though she had worked with me before. But it never takes long for guards to come down and goddesses to come out. As I had hoped, “A” was a natural and total BABE in front of the camera!! She’s in the same shoes as so many of my other clients… trying to regain a sense of self-awareness again after putting her family first for so many years. Here is what she has to say about her boudoir experience and why she did it!

Her story:

I am a stay at home mom of two, ages 3 and 6. In my previous life, I was a special education teacher of all ages. I have recently taken the initial steps to get back into my field and hope to get back to work as a special education advocate in a few years.

Have you ever done a boudoir session before?

No! This was the first time!

Did you think about doing a session for a long time?

The idea of boudoir intrigued me years ago, when I was first engaged to my husband and it started to become a more mainstream thing to do. At the time I didn’t really have the confidence to put myself in front of the camera that way. I also didn’t really understand what I would do with the pictures when they were done. It didn’t really seem like it was a worthwhile investment. But recently, as I am working to gain my autonomy and self-assurance back, the idea crept back into my mind. I realized that it was not something I wanted to do for anyone else. I wanted to see myself as beautiful; as strong; as a goddess. Sure, my husband enjoys the images too, but the project was ultimately done for me.

Why did you want to do a boudoir session?

As a mom of two little kids, I felt like I had lost myself. While I love raising my babies, my way of caring for them was putting them 100% in front of myself. It is only in the last year or so, as my youngest is now three, that I felt like I was finding my way back to myself. I’ve started taking better care of myself, eating properly and going to the gym, and caring about my appearance like I used to. Doing a boudoir session was a goal of mine, and sort of the pinnacle experience in this journey.

How do you feel the session went?

The session was a lot of fun. I was really nervous going into it but surprised myself with how comfortable I felt in my own body. Alison was great to work with. She boosts you up and makes you feel like you could do anything, all while adding in humor to take the edge off.

Were you nervous before or during your session?

I was super nervous going in, but also very excited. Once the makeup was really rolling and we were all chatting, my nerves started to calm. Still, walking out of that bathroom with my first outfit on was a strange and anxious experience…but only for a moment. Once Alison started directing me, I forgot all about the fact that I was half naked in front of someone I barely knew. The nerves were gone and I was able to relax and enjoy the experience.

How did you feel after your session?

Honestly, I felt like I was on a natural high. Also, I was exhausted. It was a lot of work and a lot of nerves! But I was so proud of myself and so elated with the experience that I felt like I was floating.

Were you happy with your images?

I was amazed by my photos. I couldn’t believe that I was looking at myself! Can’t wait to see my photo album and view finder!

Anything else you’d like to include about your boudoir experience?

If you are on the fence about a boudoir experience, I would encourage you to go for it. It is definitely worth the time and investment, and in the end you will have a product you can always look back on that will remind you of how amazing you are!
