Are you planning a CT elopement? Woohoo! You’re in the right spot! Alison Marie Photography is here to be your expert guide while planning! The word “Elopement” itself might conjure up ideas of quick or last-minute weddings; but today’s elopement can be anything you want it to be. Since the day should really be all about YOU, I’ve pulled together some resources on planning your day.
Decide on a Date
Like I mentioned, maybe the word elopement makes some people think last minute, but it doesn’t have to be. Like, at all. It could be more than 6 months in advance if you want! Some of my couples have even planned everything out months ahead of time and just didn’t tell anyone until they got closer. Again, it is all about what you want as a couple and what works best for you. Which brings me to our next step…
Find Your Photographer
No matter if you’re alone or have a few guests (I’ve had some elopements where 2-4 close friends attended and some where I was the only other person), you’ll want professional photos from your special day. It’s really how you’ll be able to look back and remember how you marked the occasion. Finding the right photographer is key; you want to make sure you connect and share the same vision.
Get That Marriage License
Ah, the paperwork. Yes, it’s a detail that is important to get done properly. In Connecticut, you’ll fill out marriage license application, show your ID, and make a sworn statement that everything you provided is true. You’ll both have to appear in person at the local records office of the town where you plan to elope. So, the next step is (see how this is all connected??)…
Find Your CT Elopement Location!
Maybe you have the perfect place in mind, which is awesome! Or maybe you know the perfect vibe you’re going for, but not the location. Heck, maybe you don’t even know where to start! It’s all good … that’s what I’m here for. CT has a ton of amazing locations: the shoreline, forest hikes, rustic barns, peaceful streams, and more. Check out a recent CT elopement I blogged about HERE. It took place at Devil’s Hopyard State Park in East Haddam. Last, but definitely not least… Elope!
