My Top 4 Micro Wedding Venues

If you’re dreaming of a wedding that feels intimate, intentional, and so you, let me introduce you to the magic of a Micro Wedding!

What is a Micro Wedding?

First, let’s talk about what exactly a Micro Wedding is. A micro wedding typically includes up to 50 guests, giving you all the meaningful moments of a traditional wedding without the overwhelming guest list, inflated budget, or pressure to perform. These celebrations are personal, elevated, and experience-driven. Think: intentional details, quality time with your favorite people, and venues that actually feel like you belong there.

Whether you’re planning something rustic, refined, or wildly romantic, the right venue sets the tone. Here are my top four micro wedding venues in MA & CT that absolutely nail the vibe.

1. Holcomb Farm, Granby CT

If you love pastoral charm with a side of history, Holcomb Farm is a dream. Rolling fields, classic New England barns, and golden-hour light for days make this venue perfect for couples who want a relaxed, countryside feel, but with a modernized barn. It’s especially ideal for outdoor ceremonies followed by intimate receptions that feel warm and cozy. What I love most about Holcomb Farm is the grounds (so many great spots for photos with amazing “golden hour” light!), but also the barn. The inside isn’t your normal dark barn venue. It feels brighter with lighter wood and lots of natural light coming in. Plus there’s an amazing fireplace!

2. Boylston Rooms, Easthampton MA

Moody, stylish, and effortlessly cool, the Boylston Rooms are for couples who want something different. Exposed brick, rich textures, and a cozy, urban atmosphere make this one of the most unique Micro Wedding Venues in Western Massachusetts. It’s perfect for modern love stories and candlelit dinners that turn into late-night celebrations. What I love most about this venue is the natural light. Because I photograph mostly outdoor weddings, the Boylston room is my only indoor wedding venue exception. I also love that it’s a completely different vibe that the barn weddings I normally photograph.

3. The Hinterland, Avon CT

The Hinterland is a beautiful, budget-friendly restored barn located in Avon CT. They take pride in their uniqueness and not being your typical “Wedding Venue”. The Barn is a traditional barn with a wedding flair and they like to keep their focus on smaller more intimate weddings. What I love most about this venue is it’s cozy and casual vibe. Food trucks welcome!

4. The Glastonbury Boathouse, Glastonbury CT

Waterfront weddings have a special kind of magic, and the Glastonbury Boathouse delivers. With sweeping river views and a clean, airy aesthetic, it’s perfect for sunset ceremonies and elegant-yet-laid-back receptions. This venue shines when you want stunning scenery without the fuss. What I love most about this venue – the waterfront of course!

Additional Ideas

Here are a few additional micro wedding venues that I have never photographed a wedding at before, but would like to! So if you are marrying at either of these venues and looking for a photographer, I’d love to chat!

From the Woods Farm, Canton CT

Raymond Family Farm, New Hartford CT

Micro weddings aren’t about scaling back, they’re about focusing in. Choosing the right micro wedding venue allows your celebration to feel intentional, beautiful, and deeply personal. Whether you’re drawn to rustic farmland, modern interiors, or waterfront views, these venues prove that smaller weddings can still be incredibly impactful.
