My husband & I just celebrated our 1 year wedding anniversary on November 16th (8 years from the day we started dating). We were married in Aruba & love love love to travel, so we decided to do a 7 day southern Caribbean cruise during Thanksgiving break to celebrate! It was an A-Mazing week!! Lots of sun, 80 degree weather, & drinks! 🙂 Our favorite!
We took a flight down to San Juan, Puerto Rico on Sunday, arriving around noon. We were able to embark on the Serenade of the Seas as soon as we arrived & were sitting on the deck in the sun in no time! AWESOME way to start off our trip!
The ship was BEAUTIFUL!
Day 2- Day at Sea…. we had a balcony cabin, so we enjoyed watching the flying fish & birds as we cruised along…
Day 3- Our first port, Barbados!!
Grabbed a shot of the ship as we disembarked in Barbados…
We took a private tour with Sarah of Glory Tours. Sarah showed us all around the island & took us to a bunch of scenic spots that I wanted to photograph.
Bottom Bay
Bathsheba
The Barbados Wildlife reserve
Brandons Beach
Day 4- St Lucia. We took a tour of the island with Cosol Tours
Banana plantation
First view of the Pitons
Getting on a boat to go over to Jalousie Beach, a beach in between the Pitons
Jalousie Beach
Day 5 -Antigua. Happy Thanksgiving!
Coming into port in Antigua
We spent the day on the beach at the Jolly Beach Resort with a day pass that included breakfast, lunch, drinks, & use of their amenities
Look at that water!! I just couldn’t get enough of this scenery! It definitely didn’t feel like Thanksgiving while laying on the beach with these gorgeous surroundings! But we didn’t mind!
Day 6- St Maarten.
We decided to head over to Mullet Bay Beach for a couple hours of sun before going to Maho Bay & the Sunset Beach Bar to watch the planes come in. If you’ve ever watched the Three Sheets St Maarten episode, you know about this bar! SO COOL!!!
Mullet Bay
Maho Bay
Day 7 – St Croix, our last port before heading back to San Juan tomorrow…
We took the shuttle over to Christiansted & then a taxi to the Bucaneer. $8 to use their beach & chairs for the day! What a deal! & the bartender made some fantastic drinks! 🙂
All in all, we had a WONDERFUL trip!! We loved every minute & saw so many great destinations!
I can’t tell you how lucky we have been to be able to take so many trips this year! We went out west in April, Vermont in June, camping in Maine for Labor Day weekend, Aruba in September, & then on the cruise in November. Next year will not be as busy, but I do have a couple destination weddings booked. We’ll be Aruba & Jamaica bound in May! I’ve never been to Jamaica so I cannot wait to check it out!!
Note to destination brides: Have camera, will travel! 🙂
