Wedding Day Regrets | How to Avoid Them

You might start off thinking, “Top wedding day regrets? That sucks for those people!” But hey, let’s get real. No matter how prepared you think you are, no matter how much you spent on coordinating — something will catch you off guard. And that’s okay! You can’t get that many people together without some, well, let’s call them surprises. But that doesn’t mean they have to be regrets. So let’s chat about how to roll with the punches on your big day and avoid any wedding day regrets.

Mismanaging Money

Flowers, invitations and table settings are all part of the whole picture, but what do you think you and your guests will remember most? Chances are, guests will remember the food, drinks and music as part of their experience. You’ll be left with your photo album full of memories. I know, I know, of course the photographer would say pictures are important but for real! They are! So make sure you’re putting the bulk of your budget towards the things that you and your guests will really remember.

Speaking of Budget…

…Ugh, I know, right? Budgets are no fun but definitely part of the deal. And this is one area where you want to be super realistic. Decide how much you want to spend on the day and stick to it. Yes, it’s your big day, but you want to start married life with fun memories rather than debt.

Narrowing the Guest List

It’s hard not to include everyone you know, but do you really need to invite your best friend’s second cousin-in-law once removed? The answer is no. Talk it over with your other half and decide who the truly important people in your lives are. Everyone will have an opinion, so it’s okay not to cave to every request every family member makes. It’s also really helpful to make it clear if your guests are allowed to bring a date/their children/their new puppy.

Too Much DIY

In the age of Pinterest and Etsy, we can all get a little carried away with what we think we can do. DIY makeup for a job interview? Sure. DIY makeup for your wedding day? Probably not. Let the professionals do their job. Even if you do a great job, the pros know how to layer the makeup so you’ll stay flawless all day and look amazing in the photos. If you need inspiration for some looks, feel free to head over to my Pinterest page. And if you’re in the New England area, you all know how much I love the ladies at HONEY Hair and Beauty. (Shameless plug? Yup!!)

Fashion Over Function

I know you want to look fabulous on your wedding day and you should! But please, please get real with comfort. It’s usually a long day full of fun and you need shoes that can keep up. You need a dress that fits. Heck, you need a comfortable bra! With all the options out there, there’s no need to sacrifice comfort. And trust me, no one looks more glowing than a relaxed, comfortable bride!
