It’s official! I’m a hiking addict!
Back at the beginning of 2021 I posted about my BUCKET LIST. I turned 40 last year and there were some things I wanted to check off my list. While I didn’t get to everything, I did completely smash number 10! Not only did I hike 1 mountain, I hiked 5! FIVE!! Who am I???
How it Began
I started with Mt Willard in the White Mountains last June with my photog bestie, Brooke & her hubby. Then a few weeks later, I went on to hike Mt. Pisgah in VT with my family. (You can read more about those hikes HERE). After that I stumbled across the NH 52 WAV list and then the 48 4,000 footers list and the rest is history!
Mount Pemigewasset
In September, my family along with my parents and brother camped in the White Mountains. It’s a trip we’ve done as a family the past couple years, so I wanted to take advantage and scratch another mountain off the 52 WAV list. We did Mt. Pemigewasset for my #3.
Three More Checks off the Bucket List!
Columbus Day weekend, I got to check multiple things off my Bucket List! #3 – Ziplining, #7 – Take a spontaneous trip, and #16 – Getaway with just my husband!
We planned a last minute trip for the weekend to the Whites to do some hiking, hit up some breweries, and just spend some time together without being parents for a change. I had gotten a gift card to go ziplining for my birthday (since my husband knew it was on my bucket list), so we made a quick stop at Berkshire East before heading up North. We could not have asked for a better weather weekend!
We had a great time ziplining and even met some people from Westfield (our home town) and an older couple from Maryland in our group.
Mount Garfield
One of the main things we had planned for the weekend was hiking a 4,000 footer. Originally we planned to hike Mt. Pierce, but after some advise from a friend, we changed it up and decided to do Mt. Garfield instead. This hike was a doozy! A whopping 10 miles, 7 hours, and 2988 ft elevation gain! My biggest and longest hike yet!
This view was EPIC! Totally worth every step!
Enjoying the Fall Foliage
After that crazy hike the day before, we needed some down time. We spent the next day just driving around enjoying the views, the foliage, and some breweries.
Mount Kearsarge
Hike #5! Apparently we are gluttons for punishment. Or maybe I just can’t resist the opportunity to check another one off the list! On the way home, we decided to do one last quick hike – Mt. Kearsarge. The Winslow trail was killer after just doing Garfield two days before. That sign should say 1.1 miles straight up!
All in all, last year’s hiking adventures were pure magic and I can’t wait to see what this year brings!! Happy 2022 friends! Keep smashing those goals!
