Deanna & Michael’s Intimate Wedding | Holcomb Farm, West Granby, CT

This week on the blog I’m featuring Deanna and Michael’s beautiful Connecticut intimate wedding at Holcomb Farm in West Granby. Holcomb Farm is the perfect setting to host a Fall (or any season!!) outdoor wedding ceremony & reception. With a rustic red barn, beautiful weather, and gorgeous foliage, Deanna and Michael’s day was a great way to wrap up my fall wedding season!

Deanna and Michael went slightly non-traditional for their wedding. They chose to keep their guest list to around 50 of their closest family members and friends for their Sunday afternoon, brunch-style wedding. Just because they didn’t have a traditional large evening wedding, doesn’t mean they skimped out on any of the fun details. They had it all, just on a smaller scale!

Keeping it Intimate

If you’re thinking of keeping your invite list a bit smaller, there are plenty of advantages in doing so. For starters… cost! Weddings can be crazy expensive, but generally speaking, the less people you invite, the less it will cost you. An intimate wedding can also be a little less stressful to plan and execute. I find that intimate wedding couples can take more time to really celebrate each other throughout their day and not be pulled in 8 million different directions! They also get to spend more time with their guests because there are less people to spread their time between.

Many wedding couples feel pressure to invite everyone they know to their wedding. After 10 years of shooting weddings and also planning my own wedding, I highly recommend that couples take a step back and really focus on what’s important to them. Whether it’s a large wedding, an intimate wedding, or a destination wedding that you are envisioning for your day…create a day that will be special to the two of you and don’t worry about the rest! It’s your wedding after all and you only get one shot to make it the way you want it. Happy wedding planning!
