Leah and Zach’s dreamy Holcomb Farm wedding in Granby, CT, was exactly that – dreamy!
From the moment I arrived, I knew this wedding was going to be a joy to photograph. Leah and Zach are the kind of couple that are just so easy-going. From their “go with the flow” attitudes, to their effortless chemistry and contagious smiles. They made my job super easy and allowed me to be creative! (Basically what every photographer wants when working a wedding day!)

The Venue: Holcomb Farm
Nestled on 367 acres of breathtaking farmland, Holcomb Farm is a hidden gem for couples who crave a mix of rustic charm and natural elegance. From the restored barn with its exposed wood beams to the rolling meadows and fire-lit patio, every inch of this venue is a photographer’s dream.
One of my favorite things about Holcomb Farm? It’s the ultimate blend of cozy and spacious. With an indoor stone fireplace for intimate moments and an outdoor fire pit for late-night gatherings, it has all the charm of a rustic retreat while still accommodating up to 125 guests. Whether couples want an intimate ceremony under the open sky or a lively celebration inside the barn, this venue offers it all. And, as a local (yes, I live just 5 minutes away!), I know that every season at Holcomb Farm brings its own kind of beauty. The relaxed vibe makes it an ideal outdoor wedding venue for my clients any time of year!

The First Look
Leah & Zach chose to do a first look and that is a game-changer for couples who want to make the most out of their wedding day photography coverage. A first look gives you a private, intimate moment to see each other before the ceremony—just the two of you (and your photographer capturing the magic!). It helps calm the nerves, allowing you to feel more present and relaxed when walking down the aisle. Plus, it frees up time for stunning portraits while your hair and makeup are fresh, meaning you’ll spend less time on photos later and more time enjoying cocktail hour with your guests. If you’re looking for a way to ease the wedding-day rush and soak in every moment together, a first look might be the perfect choice!

The Ceremony
Set against a woodsy backdrop, Leah & Zach’s outdoor ceremony was beautiful! They found the perfect spot on the property, framed by golden leaves and the setting sun dipping behind them. Though the wind proved too strong for their wooden wedding arch to stay put, they embraced the natural beauty of the moment—plus, we captured a few gorgeous photos with it beforehand!

Golden Hour Magic
If you know me, you know I’m all about sunlight. Typically when my couple plans for a first look, I always plan to pull them again for photos during “golden hour”! Golden hour light is magical! It creates a soft, romantic glow that no studio lighting can mimic. It’s perfect for portraits, making every couple look their absolute best—glowing, dreamy, and completely in love.
Golden Hour photos also give couples a chance to take a break and soak in the moment. After a whirlwind ceremony, taking the time to share a quiet moment together is so refreshing. It’s an opportunity to pause, enjoy each other’s company, and create intimate memories away from the crowd.
Lastly, golden hour photos feel timeless. They’re the kind of images you’ll want to look back on forever—full of warmth, beauty, and emotion. And, as a photographer, it’s the perfect light to work with, ensuring I capture the most flattering, memorable shots.
So, when it comes to your wedding day, trust me—golden hour is a must! Don’t worry, I’ll help you plan for the time when we go over your wedding day timeline!

The Reception
Unlike most barn venues, Holcomb Farm is light & bright inside with warm wood-paneled walls, exposed beams, and soft, ambient lighting. The barn creates an inviting atmosphere for a cozy yet stylish celebration.
The tables were beautifully set with crisp white linens, earthy green napkins, and simple yet elegant floral centerpieces in amber vases, adding a natural, organic touch to the décor. The white folding chairs and polished table settings kept the space feeling fresh and airy while complementing the venue’s rustic character.
As the evening unfolded, the indoor stone fireplace and glowing string lights made for a warm and intimate setting. Guests enjoyed heartfelt moments, from Leah and Zach’s emotional first dance to their fun cake-cutting tradition. Later, friends and family gathered around the outdoor fire pit, roasting marshmallows under the night sky—a perfect way to end such a magical evening.

From Leah & Zach’s engagement session at Holcomb Farm to their wedding day, every moment has been filled with so much love, laughter, and the kind of magic that lasts a lifetime! Cheers to Leah & Zach—and to all the beautiful love stories still to come! ??
