Elizabeth Park & the Pond House | A Wedding Photographer’s View

Up next in my featured wedding venue series is Elizabeth Park & the Pond House. Located in West Hartford, CT, Elizabeth Park & the Pond House is an absolutely gorgeous place to get married. I have a wedding at this location coming up later this summer and I cannot wait! Although I’ve only photographed one other wedding here, I’ve shot countless engagement sessions. If you’re a nature lover like me and want to get married (or have your engagement session) in a beautiful park setting, you’ve got to check this venue out! Here’s why I love it so much…

Gorgeous Grounds

I’m a natural light photographer, I absolutely love the outdoors and being in nature!! There are countless spots in Elizabeth Park for photos so each session can be unique to the couple. No matter what the season, there is always something blooming on the grounds of Elizabeth Park & the Pond House. Spring boasts the tulips and cherry blossoms, summer there are roses and a plethora of other flowers, and fall are the dahlias.

A Nature Lovers Dream Reception

The inside of the Pond House is very pretty. You don’t realize how big the reception room is until you are in there. The massive windows really let the natural light stream in. The views of the greenery outside are incredible! The Pond House is gorgeous when all set up for a wedding. It’s a perfect venue for any couple who are nature-oriented and want an outdoor wedding. I also love it because both the ceremony & reception take place on the grounds – no traveling for guests! YAAY! I highly recommend searching for a “one-stop shop” to host your wedding. Read why in my blog post: The Benefits of Having Your Wedding in One Location.

A Memorable Wedding – Elizabeth Park

One of my favorite weddings to photograph was at Elizabeth Park & the Pond House. Ibby & Eric’s late Summer wedding was perfection. There was a little bit of added pressure for me because they are also both photographers! But because of that reason, they REALLY made sure we had time for photos and that we utilized the grounds. We did a “First Look” in the shade and rock garden and family formals in the annual garden. Their ceremony was held near the big arch, gazebo and perennial garden (in front of the shade and rock garden). We did portraits all over the park – the rose garden, bridge, greenhouses, and the reception was in the Pond House. So many beautiful spots to take photos!
