Taylor & Tyler’s Surprise Proposal

When Taylor first contacted me to do a couples portrait session, I just assumed she meant an engagement session. After a little back and forth, I realized Taylor and Tyler, her boyfriend of more than a year, weren’t yet engaged but they wanted to get some professional pics taken of them at this point in their lives. Love that!!! Little did Taylor know that Tyler was planning something more behind the scenes. Tyler reached out to me (without Taylor knowing) to tell me he was planning a surprise proposal during their session. AWWW!!! I was SO excited to hear this news. Capturing the moment when a couple gets engaged… it’s a wedding photographers dream!

Snowy Backdrop

Taylor & Tyler chose East Granby Farms in West Suffield, CT as their session location but a few days before their date, we got a massive snowstorm. I LOVE snowy photoshoots, but we had gotten so much snow that I wasn’t sure the roads and paths around the farm would be plowed. We ended up switching the location to my own backyard. One of the reasons I bought my house was the location! My property is next door to a cute little farm with large red barns and my backyard borders the woods. It’s a gorgeous location in any season and the snow made it look magical! The plan was to take some pics of the couple before Tyler got down on one knee and proposed.

While they had talked about getting engaged in the future, Taylor had no idea it was coming and was completely surprised!!! It was such an awesome moment, and I’m so excited to have been able to capture it for them!

Congrats on your engagement Taylor & Tyler! I’m thrilled to have been a part of your surprise proposal! And I can’t wait to capture your beautiful wedding at Wood Acres Farm next summer!
