I had so much fun during Anna’s equestrian senior portrait session! This session took place on their family farm this past fall when alllll the New England colors were happening. It was a gorgeous time of year but it got me thinking about a popular question I get. When is the right time of year to book senior portraits? Well, the answer is … it depends. Let’s help you decide between the top most popular seasons.

Spring Senior Portraits

Spring is probably one of the most underrated times of year but absolutely a season you should think about! The weather can be unpredictable, but when it’s good, it’s great. The temps are milder so you’re not sweating and you have a variety of wardrobe options. Oh yeah, and ALL the things are blooming. Forsythias first, then all the flowers follow. It’s an ideal time for a park-like setting. That said, work with your photographer to create a backup plan in case of rainy weather.

Summer Sun Portraits

Schooooool’s out for SUMMER and it’s probably the best time to book! (And no, it’s not just because I’m posting this now.) Summer gives you the gift of time in so many ways. First, you won’t have any problem meeting your school’s submission deadline. Also the days are longer, which means you have more times of day to pick from before that sun sets. Fall Senior Portraits

So here’s the deal. I get a ton — and I’m talking a TON — of inquiries about senior portraits as soon as the fall hits. And I get it, I do. Vacay is done, and everyone is back in planning mode and gearing up for the school year. We’re back in jeans and scarves and all things pumpkin spice. It’s also an absolutely breathtaking time of year in New England for photos. But let me let you in on a little tip. Things get busy. All those schedules that eased over the summer ramp back up. So while it’s a popular time, give some thought to those other seasons!
