Senior sessions don’t have to look the same for everyone. And honestly? They shouldn’t.
When Delilah, a senior at Granby Memorial High School, started planning her senior photos, she knew she wanted something different than the typical field-at-sunset vibe. She’s involved in theater, has an edgy personal style, and wanted her session to feel a little more artistic and urban.
Which immediately made me think graffiti walls, brick textures, & metal staircases. Downtown Westfield ended up being the perfect fit.

Bringing Personality Into Senior Photos
One of my favorite things about senior sessions is figuring out how to make them actually feel like you.
Delilah’s style had this cool mix of creative, confident, and slightly alternative energy that worked so well with the downtown setting. The colorful graffiti wall gave us a bold, playful backdrop, while the industrial stairs and brick added that moody urban feel she was looking for.
The best part? Nothing about this session felt forced.
She completely owned every location we explored, and the whole session felt more like hanging out and creating than stiff posing. And that’s always the goal!

Why Downtown Westfield Was the Perfect Location
Western Massachusetts actually has some really underrated urban photo locations if you know where to look.
Downtown Westfield gave us textures, industrial feel, colorful art, interesting lines, and architecture, which is a COMPLETELY different vibe than parks or fields.
For seniors who want a little something different, urban locations can make your gallery feel way more personal and unique. Especially for creative students, theater kids, musicians, artists, or anyone wanting a little edge in their photos.

The Unexpected Rooftop Photos
And then came the surprise plot twist. We happened to be at exactly the right place at exactly the right time because the son of the owner of one of the buildings saw us photographing nearby and offered to let us up on the rooftop for photos.
Which was honestly so cool. Definitely one of those unexpected moments that makes a session unforgettable.

Senior Sessions Should Feel Personal
This session is such a good reminder that senior photos don’t have to fit into one specific style.
You don’t need to wear something trendy if it’s not you.
You don’t need a flower field if you’d rather have brick walls and graffiti.
And you definitely don’t need to look like everyone else.
The best senior sessions are the ones that reflect your personality, interests, and vibe.
For Delilah, that meant leaning into her wardrobe style, the urban scenery, dramatic textures, bold colors, and creative energy that matched who she is right now during such an important season of life.
And honestly? It worked perfectly.

Planning Your Own Senior Session in Western Massachusetts
If you’re a high school senior (or parent) looking for senior photos that feel a little more unique and personal, don’t be afraid to think outside the box with locations (I can also help with ideas!).
Some of the best sessions happen when we build the entire experience around your personality instead of copying Pinterest trends.
Whether you want downtown urban scenery, athletic photos, nature locations, creative artistic vibes, dramatic city textures, or something completely different, we can absolutely plan a session that feels true to you. And sometimes, if we get lucky, we might even end up on a rooftop!
If you’re thinking about booking senior photos in Westfield, Southwick, Granby, or anywhere in Western Massachusetts or Northern Connecticut, I’d love to help create something that feels uniquely yours.
