There are certain venues I will happily photograph over and over again, and Holcomb Farm is definitely one of them. I’ve shared a fall wedding at Holcomb Farm before, but Caitlin and Josh’s July wedding was the perfect opportunity to show off just how beautiful this Granby wedding venue is in the summer, too.

Green fields, warm summer light, rustic New England charm, and so many different places for photos without ever having to leave the property. It’s one of my favorite wedding venues for a reason.

From Their Granby Engagement Session to Their Wedding Day

Caitlin and Josh live right here in Granby, and Caitlin’s parents do too, so I love that so much of their story took place close to home. We started with their spring engagement session at McLean Game Refuge, another beautiful Granby location.

Engagement sessions are always such a nice way to get to know each other before the wedding. By the time the big day arrives, we’ve already worked together, they know what to expect from me, and being in front of the camera feels a whole lot less unfamiliar. A Summer Wedding at Holcomb Farm

A few months later, it was time to do it all again! This time for their July wedding at Holcomb Farm. One of the things I love about photographing weddings at Holcomb Farm is how different the property can feel depending on the season. I’ve photographed it surrounded by gorgeous fall colors, but summer brings a completely different look.

Everything is green and full, the fields make a beautiful backdrop for portraits, and the entire property has that relaxed summer-in-New-England feel.

And because there are so many different areas to work with, we can create plenty of variety without spending part of your wedding day driving from one location to another. That’s always a win!

Why I Love Photographing Weddings at Holcomb Farm

Holcomb Farm has become one of those venues where I’m always excited to see its name come through my inbox. Having photographed weddings here before, I know the property well enough to really use it.

I know where we can find those wide-open views, where to look for softer light when the summer sun is strong, and where I want to head when that gorgeous evening light starts making an appearance. And wedding days don’t always go exactly according to plan. Timelines shift. Weather changes. Things take longer than expected. Knowing a venue ahead of time gives me the flexibility to adjust without wasting valuable time trying to figure out where we should go next.

That’s a big part of why I love being a Holcomb Farm wedding photographer. I get the advantage of knowing the property while still creating photographs that feel completely different for each couple.

So Much Variety in One Granby CT Wedding Venue

Another reason Holcomb Farm continues to be one of my favorite wedding venues is the amount of variety we can get without leaving the property. There are wide-open fields, trees and greenery, rustic buildings, the barn itself, and so many little pockets that give us completely different looks throughout the day.

For Caitlin and Josh’s summer wedding, all that green gave us the perfect backdrop. It’s rustic without feeling overly themed, and it has that laid-back New England feel that photographs beautifully. More importantly, we don’t need to disappear for an hour and drive somewhere else just to create variety in your wedding portraits. You get to spend more time actually enjoying your wedding. If you know me, you know I’m a pretty big fan of that.

Summer or Fall at Holcomb Farm?

Now that I’ve photographed and shared both summer and fall weddings at Holcomb Farm, I can officially say… You really can’t go wrong! Fall brings gorgeous foliage, warmer tones, and everything we love about autumn in New England. Summer gives you lush greens, longer days, and beautiful evening light. Same venue. Completely different feel.
