Some weddings are grand celebrations with hundreds of guests, while others are intimate gatherings centered around what truly matters – celebrating the beginning of a marriage with the people you love most! Michelle and Jason’s wedding was exactly that.

On a warm June 13th afternoon, surrounded by their closest family and friends, they exchanged vows in the beautiful Rose Garden at Stanley Park in Westfield, MA. It was simple, heartfelt, and such a wonderful reminder that your wedding day doesn’t have to be huge to be incredibly meaningful.

When Plans Change, Sometimes They Change for the Better

When I first met Michelle and Jason, they were planning something completely different. Their original vision was a beach wedding on Cape Cod in February. As with many weddings, life had other plans.

Instead of traveling, they decided to stay local and celebrate with an intimate ceremony at Stanley Park. And I honestly think it suited them perfectly.

Their wedding felt relaxed from the very beginning. There wasn’t a packed timeline or the pressure that can sometimes come with a large event. Everyone was able to slow down, enjoy the moment, and simply be present.

One of My Favorite Things About Micro Weddings

As a wedding photographer, I genuinely love photographing micro weddings. Don’t get me wrong, I enjoy large celebrations too, but there’s something incredibly special about smaller weddings. The pace is slower. There’s more time to breathe. And perhaps my favorite part is that I get so much more uninterrupted time with the couple.

Instead of rushing from one event to the next, Michelle and Jason and I were able to wander throughout Stanley Park after their ceremony, taking advantage of the gorgeous scenery and soaking in those first moments as newlyweds.

Ending the Day with Golden Hour

Although it was definitely a hot June day, Mother Nature rewarded us with beautiful golden evening light.

We explored different areas of the park, stopping whenever the light caught my eye or we found another beautiful backdrop. Without the pressure of a packed reception schedule waiting for us, we were able to take our time and create a gallery filled with natural moments, genuine smiles, and plenty of laughter. Those quieter moments together often become some of my favorite images from the entire wedding day. They’re the moments when couples finally get a chance to slow down and simply enjoy being married.

Why Stanley Park Is Perfect for a Small Wedding

Stanley Park is a fantastic local outdoor wedding location in Western Massachusetts, especially for micro weddings. Between the beautifully maintained gardens, tree-lined paths, charming bridges, and open green spaces, there are endless opportunities for portraits. The Rose Garden provided the perfect setting for Michelle and Jason’s ceremony, and afterward we had so many beautiful spots just a short walk away for portraits.
